Food Tips - Fried Chicken at Golden Fork - best food

What you see – A bright orange hoarding with the name of Golden Fork restaurant in red neon light is conspicuous. A glass wall that ends with white and orange tiles at the bottom gives us a peek inside the restaurant and the kitchen. On the other side of the glass door, the restaurant boasts of a simple yet soothing ambience with an air-conditioned setting. The aromas of spices envelop you as you sit to enjoy popular film music playing in the background.

What you get - Golden Fork is a multi-cuisine restaurant that serves South Indian, North Indian, Chinese, Continental and Thai food. This includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights.

Here you can start with a variety of soups and salads along with the lip-smacking starters. The choices in soup include the usual ones like Sweet corn vegetable / chicken soup, Hot and sour soup and Cream of tomato soup among others. In salads, Garden fresh salad (sliced fresh vegetables), Chicken Hawaiian salad (boiled chicken, vegetables, and fruits with mayonnaise dressing) and Russian salad (boiled vegetables, fruits and egg with mayonnaise dressing) come recommended.
In starters, you can try French fries, Vegetable gold corn, Mushroom salt and pepper or Paneer and Vegetable pakoda. For meat lovers, there are several beef options apart from Drums of heaven, Chicken lollipop, Dragon chicken, Travancore fish finger and Squid tempura.

Coming to the main course, the Kerala Parotha is worth a try along with spicy Mutton Chettinad gravy. Beef or chicken ulathiyathu (fry) are available too, apart from Prawn masala and Crab masala.

Those who prefer Chinese can try Crispy fried vegetable, Schezwan rice (vegetable and chicken), Fried rice and Noodles. Continental options include Stroganoff (Chicken/ Beef), Fish ‘n' chips, Fish finger with tartar sauce and Grilled fish with lemon butter sauce. There is even Golden Fork Fried Chicken (GFC) akin to KFC here. The GFC snack box (one piece of chicken served with mayonnaise garlic sauce, French fries and a glass of soft drink) comes to you at a price of Rs. 90. You can also opt from Couple meal, Family pack, Party meal and Special kebab platters.

We sampled aromatic Mutton biryani (Rs. 135) that came served in beautiful ceramic plates along with Chicken varutharachathu (chicken curry made with fried coconut and coconut milk). Both the dishes were flavorful and delicious.

Our verdict - This multi-cuisine restaurant is a good place to dine with family and friends. The restaurant is located on the Kakkanad Bypass Junction and is easy to locate as it is next to the pipeline signal and Pastoral Orientation Center (POC). The restaurant shares a common parking lot available for the whole complex. It also offers home delivery within a radius of five kilometers.
